5/8/2023 0 Comments Muji notebooks![]() I carry the Surface Go tablet with me on about 75% of my field activations, but leave it at home if I’m doing a substantial amount of hiking. ![]() Regardless if a contact is in CW or phone, I copy the callsign and exchange information on paper first, then immediately transfer it to my logging software on the tablet. Always.įor one thing, when I’m copying a callsign in Morse Code (CW), I prefer writing down the call as it’s being sent. While I often do live logging with my Microsoft Surface Go tablet to speed up log submissions, I always log on paper first. If you’ve followed any of my field reports for Parks On The Air (POTA) here on the SWLing Post or on, you’ve probably seen me employ a wide variety of note pads and logging sheets. I find that the act of writing something down–pen to paper–locks thoughts/memos in my memory much better than taking notes on a digital device. To this day, I keep notepads in my EDC bag and near my radio desk. While I could hardly afford notepads and pens/pencils I found in those stores, I did occasionally splurge. It was in France I discovered the amazingly wide variety of notepads that could be found in a Papeterie or stationery store. I kept one in my pocket, my backpack, and had larger notepads for each one of my classes. When I moved to France to do undergraduate studies in the early 90s, I became reliant on small notepads to keep my brain organized and maintain some sense of sanity. While I love leveraging technology to make the most of my radio world, I also have a sincere appreciation for simple “analog world” solutions to my needs. And most of the notebooks we tested had 7 mm lined ruling (close to college rule), but we note the exceptions below. In many ways, I’m old school. We also mention paper weight or thickness when that spec is important, but most of these high-quality pages are 80 to 90 gsm (grams per square meter) thicker isn’t always better, but all of the paper in our picks felt substantial and satisfying for us to write on. We mention price per page when it’s notable, but our picks average 7¢ per page (at this writing). The more tooth a paper has, the rougher it is generally, toothy paper is great for pencils because charcoal adheres better to paper that isn’t super smooth. Tooth or toothy refers to the texture of the paper or how the surface of the paper feels.Bleeding refers to ink actually coming through to the other side of the paper or even the next sheet. ![]() Ghosting refers to pen ink being visible on the other side of the paper.Feathering refers to ink bleeding from the edges of letters, versus crisp lettering. It’s impossible to pick out just one notebook for everybody, because everyone has different preferences when it comes to size, cover material, page ruling, paper feel, and all the other little characteristics that make one notebook stand out from another.Ī few paper terms you’ll see throughout the guide: You can read how we made our picks and tested them if you’d like more detail on what we were looking for or why your favorite didn’t make this list. So we offer you an array of great notebooks from $2 to $20: softcover notebooks with silky-smooth paper and more grippy, “toothier” paper a hardcover notebook with all the bells and whistles a great Moleskine alternative a spiral-bound notebook suitable for students reporter-style notebooks in small and traditional sizes a budget-friendly pocket-size notebook and a stylish, rugged pocket notebook a steno-style spiral notebook that works on anyone’s desk and a disc-bound notebook with pages you can rearrange. Different types of notebooks may serve different purposes, too. It’s impossible to pick out just one notebook for everybody, because everyone has different preferences when it comes to size, cover material, page ruling, paper feel, and all the other little characteristics that make one notebook stand out from another. Any of these notebooks will provide an appreciably better writing experience than what you can get from a generic, off-the-shelf-at-Walgreens notebook. After interviewing experts, researching more than 80 notebooks, and writing zealously in 24 of them side by side over several weeks, we have picks in a number of sizes and styles. Upgrading from a cheap notebook to a high-quality one usually costs just a couple more cents per page (or about $2 to $5 overall), and we think you’re worth it. It can be a source of joy, a covetable item that turns an ordinary, everyday task-note taking, journaling, task planning, brainstorming, or doodling-into a sublime experience. A notebook is more than just a practical tool.

5/8/2023 0 Comments Dota 2 undying![]() His flesh golem lends itself to you being in the centre of fights, with its slow and damage amp increasing the closer you get to an enemy hero. A lot of people really just don't know what he does. His ability to turn the fight around is immense.īe mindful of what your ultimate does. Undying is a hero that players are really scared of ganking, and with good reason. If they decide to turn and fight you, or you feel they're low enough, drop your tombstone and go ham on them. Catch as many people in it as possible, and then use their reduced strength to your advantage. You will get the same advice across the board here - use your decay efficiently. Thankfully, Undying is equipped with the very tools for this job. You will fall off pretty hard late-game, so dominating your lane and ending the game as early as possible is paramount. You need to take advantage of the early-mid game. Here are some things I've learned playing with him. Undying was the very first hero I got serious with when I first started playing Dota 2, and thus has a very special place in my heart. You can completely turn around fights for your team, and you should be in every one.Ĭonsidering how much you need to spam Decay, you are going to need mana. You should absolutely always 100% be in every fight you can be in. Undying's effectiveness drops off severely if he's alone. Flesh Golem and Tombstone while spamming Decay is hell on your enemies. This is when you create absolute chaos in teamfights. Essentially when you drop Tombstone, you should also be popping Flesh Golem. Save this for when you know it's going to be effective.įlesh Golem's cooldown is low enough that you can afford to pop it in pretty much every engagement. You can deal massive damage or do a great heal on your teammates, but it's only effective when there are a large number of units nearby who you're trying to hurt or heal. But don't be afraid to die if you can secure a kill on a carry by getting up in the fight.ĭon't spam Soul Rip. At this point they will try to pull in other lanes to gank you, so watch for this. And when they're angry, they'll play worse, which leads you to get even more kills. You will kill them over and over when they think you shouldn't be able to, and it will make them angry. Your entire job as Undying is to make your opponents go on tilt. If you're good, you can secure 4-5 kills in your lane in the first few minutes. The added strength along with your Stout Shield makes you so tanky that you can walk right up to your enemies without much fear of death, especially if you have a good lane partner. If you're in a dual lane, spam Decay when you can catch two heroes in the AoE. ![]() You will be surprised how often your opponent will be crawling away while the zombies take them down. If your opponents get out of position, drop the Tombstone directly on top of them and watch the zombies do their work. ![]() Your second skill point should be in Decay, then max Tombstone as fast as you can. That first kill should get you enough gold for a Stout Shield, so pick that up in the side shop.Īfter securing the first blood, your opponents will most likely try to compensate and catch up by playing a little big aggro in the lane. In your skill bracket, this will almost always work. ![]() Hopefully with your teammate's help, the slow from the zombies and your Orb will be enough to secure first blood. When the enemy goes for the first bounty rune, drop your Tombstone right on them and get up close and start whacking them with your Orb. Have a teammate with you, preferably someone ranged with decent damage. Skill your first point into Tombstone and head for one of the rune spots at the horn. Start with an Orb of Venom, Clarity, and something for healing. He's so fun to play, and not that difficult after a bit of practice. I am not a great player, but Undying is my most played hero and I have a 75% win rate with him. 5/8/2023 0 Comments Prota sports bra![]() This led to very positive reviews in O: The Oprah Magazine, a 2001 appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, and a huge surge in orders. After considerable lobbying, she persuaded Oprah Winfrey in 2001 to try her bra. Unable to interest mainstream bra manufacturers, she collaborated with freelance apparel designer Heidi Fisk, and founded Enell Incorporated. Renelle Braaten, a Montana hairdresser, struggled to contain her DD-sized breasts while playing racquetball and volleyball. Sought out by bra manufacturers for her expertise, she advocated wide bottom bands for extra support and firm straps that minimized breasts bounce. She measured breast movement of women running on treadmills. This was followed by research by Christine Haycock, associate professor of surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. In 1990, Playtex purchased Jogbra from Lindahl and her partners. Two others are housed by the Smithsonian and another by the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. One of their original Jogbras is bronzed and on display near the costume shop of the theatre. ![]() ![]() In the costume shop of Royall Tyler Theatre at the University of Vermont, Lindahl and Smith actually sewed two jockstraps together and nicknamed it a "jockbra". During the course of Lindahl and Smith's exploration for a better alternative, it was suggested that what they needed was a jockstrap for women's breasts. Both Lindahl and her sister, Victoria Woodrow, complained about their bad experience exercising in ordinary bras, having experienced runaway straps, chafing and sore breasts. The first general exercise bra, initially called a "jockbra", was invented in 1977 by Lisa Lindahl and theater costume designer Polly Smith with the help of Smith's assistant, Hinda Schreiber. The first commercially available sports bra was the "Free Swing Tennis Bra" introduced by Glamorise Foundations, Inc. For each skill there are three levels: Apprentice, Adept and Master. Of course the more experienced they are in a particular skill, the more efficient they become. In Virtual Villagers 5 there are six different skills your villagers can master. If for example you want a villager to do some farming, set his/her preference to “Farming” (select a villager and click “Details” on the bottom right). Make sure to set preferences for your villagers. That way you’ll avoid major issues with your villagers. So it’s best to switch to “Normal” or “Slow”, or even “Pause” the game when necessary. 5/7/2023 0 Comments Time to get moving![]() "If you have virtual meetings, using the beginning and end of that meeting as opportunities for you to walk around the block or walk to take out the trash or maybe there's somewhere nearby that is a place you like to go to," he says. Meyer agrees that sitting less and walking more will make a big difference. "And if you don't have stairs, just walking room to room, back and forth, getting those extra steps." in your house, walk room to room, use your stairs," she says. "I've told a lot of people, if you have space. Start by just walking more, says Molly McDonald, a certified personal trainer with Corporate Fitness Works, who I also train with. Carter used to do it with her friend in the morning, she says and "that would get us going and have that accountability." Walk whenever you can She suggests arranging with a friend to call or text each other at an agreed on time to spur each other to take a walk or run. Try to think of ways that would make it more likely you'll stick to workout plan, perhaps by building in some external accountability. "One tenet of self-compassion is this common humanity, that we all struggle at this," she says. It's important to have compassion on yourself. Or if you're not a morning person, then don't plan to exercise in the morning.Īnd remember, she adds, "getting started is the hardest part." Don't blame yourself if you're struggling to get started. So if you hate running, don't run just because it's trendy or someone tells you it's good for you, says Carter. And that includes knowing what's not realistic for you. ![]() "I think part of developing a good exercise plan for each of us is knowing ourselves well, knowing what's feasible," says Carter. In fact, "going from no activity at all to even a little bit of activity is going to get some of the biggest health effects," says Meyer, compared with the benefits for someone who is already working out regularly. But in reality, "five minutes is better than none." "It's like either I do zero or I do two hours, and if I don't get two hours, then it doesn't count, or it's not good enough," she says. People trying to start exercising often get caught up in an "all or nothing" thinking, says sports psychologist Jennifer Carter at the Ohio State University. "If I were to walk around my office, all those steps would count, it would be helpful," he says. If you haven't been working out throughout the pandemic and are intimidated about starting now, don't worry, says Meyer. Meyer and other exercise experts shared some tips to get started: Think small With another pandemic winter about to hit us and much of the country and the world still dealing with COVID-19, we are often stuck at home more than we'd like, so it's time to start sitting less and moving around more. "We know consistently that the more people are active, the more that they exercise, the better their mental health is," says Meyer.įor many office workers like me, working from home means we've fallen into a routine of spending hours at our desk. Scores of previous studies confirm that being physically active boosts mood, lowers anxiety and improves sleep quality. The good news is that something as simple as some very light movement around the house to break up all that couch surfing time can make a difference in mood, as Meyer's earlier research has found. ![]() "People who continued to have really high levels of sitting, their depression didn't improve" as much, says Meyer. ![]() His own research showed that in the early weeks of the pandemic, people who exercised less and had more screen time were likely to be stressed, depressed and lonely.Īnd though most people saw their mental health gradually improve as they adapted to a new reality, people who stayed mostly sedentary didn't see get the same improvement, according to a follow-up study by Meyer. "The sneaky effects of the pandemic that we might not even notice that we've changed our sitting patterns," says Jacob Meyer, director of the Wellbeing and Exercise lab at Iowa State University. More than a year and a half of social distancing and work-from-home policies have led to less time moving around and more time sitting and looking at screens - it's a potentially toxic combination that's linked with poorer mental health. And it's not just bad for our waistlines - it's hurting our mental health. Of all the ways in which the pandemic has affected Americans' well-being, perhaps the one we've noticed least is how much we're sitting. Add five-minute stints of fun and easy exercise to your day at home by working with what's around you, says trainer Molly McDonald. 5/7/2023 0 Comments Psx tekken 3 cool rom![]() The download links below was last updated on 20th May 2022.
